#TimeToTalk: Mental Health in the Workplace

Last May 31, 2023, I was honored to have been a panelist for #TimeToTalk, a leadership roundtable organized by UN Women and MindNation.

It was an insightful discussion on the importance of prioritizing mental health in the workplace and empowering women to take on leadership roles. Here are some of my favorite nuggets of wisdom from the session:

1. Strive to be a safe space for your team. As a leader, are people comfortable sharing their challenges with you? Can they come to you to have a chat? Do you go out of your way to give others the time to talk?

2. Model the way for the people around you. Sometimes, there is an expectation to hold everything together. But when you are vulenrable and share your frustrations too, it just means that you’re also growing. And that can encourage others to overcome their own shortcomings and believe in their capabilities even more.

3. Showcase your #employerbrand through your policies and programs that promote well-being. Reaching talent is not just about compensation and benefits. As leaders, you have to be intentional about overall wellness and showcase how you can help your people thrive in your workplace.

Thank you again to #UNWomen and MindNation for this meaningful session. Thank you as well to everyone who joined in and gave feedback!
